Today on the blog I am talking about the in’s and out’s of wedding invitation suites and I will also be sharing some amazing invitation inspiration from Basic Invite. I remember when I was wedding planning, my invitation suite was the first thing that really made my wedding feel legitimate. That may sound so weird but once I picked my invitation suite, I knew this was the first “real” piece of our wedding that we would be sharing with all our guests! It was pretty exciting.
First things first you have to figure out where you are going to get your wedding invitations. I highly suggest checking out Basic Invite. One of the first things I loved about this company was their customer service, I have reached out many times to them and they have always been super pleasant and more than happy to help. Working with a company like that will make your life so much easier….trust me! The second thing I really liked was the selection of invitation suites that they carried. There is over 200 wedding invitation suites and over 40 different colours of envelopes to pick from. So there really is something for everyone. My personal favourite is the new clear collection!
These invites are also easily customized. You can change the colours on any part of your invite making it fit perfectly into the style and theme of your wedding. Once you have made any colours changes or tweaks you also get to see an instant preview online. After you have decided that you are in love with your online preview it is time to order those invites up! Well not too fast, with Basic Invite you are able to order a custom sample so you can actually see and feel how your invites will turn out then you can order your final product. This option truly is a life saver because it is so hard to tell on a computer screen how the ink will print or how nice the paper you chose is. This saves you the hassle from ordering 200 invites that you absolutely hate.
Now that we have talked a little about where to get some awesome invites, it is time to discuss the in’s and out’s of a wedding invitation. This sometimes can be a little confusing because there are some pieces that are the basics, some are nice-to-have’s and some are just extras. In my honest opinion the more pieces the better. The reason I say this is because you know you have given all your guests all the sufficient information and that will hopefully lead to less questions and confusion down the line.
Next up is the reception card, this will include the times of cocktail hour, dinner, the dance and the location with address.
Moving on to the RSVP Card, this is pretty important because you will need a guest count for a lot of your wedding plans. This card needs to have a CLEAR return date and a spot or check box to say if they are attending or not. I also added how many children under 12 would be attending as well, just to give my caterer a count for children’s meals. You could also include an addressed and stamped envelope for the RSVP card, this just helps make your guests lives a little easier. It also can help ensure more people mail back the RSVP.
Here are a few pieces that are nice to include for your guests but definitely don’t have to be included. I am going to start with the Accommodation card, this card will include all the hotels available and where you have blocked any rooms off for your guests convenience. Another card that is always nice to include is a Direction card, this will include all the addresses of the venues and basic instructions on how to get there. To go along with the Direction card you could also include a Map card.
These extras are not always necessary but sometimes they are really nice to include. I love the idea of adding in a Things to do card. This card is super helpful for out of town guests that might not know what to go do or check out while they are visiting. Another awesome thing to include is your wedding website information, you can even easily create a wedding website with Basic Invite that will match the invites you pick out. Isn’t that awesome? I love when everything can have a nice cohesive look!
