It is so exciting that we get to feature such beautiful photos but nothing is better than the engagement stories we get with the photos. Dave and Britany’s wintertime Heritage Ranch engagement session is so pretty but the engagement story is super adorable. Molly D. Photography was lucky to get to capture such an amazing couple. Keep reading to find out how cute this couple really is!
From Britany, The Bride To Be:
5 years ago to the day we went on our first date to a Red Deer Rebels hockey game. We had made plans to do the exact same thing we did that evening. It was a normal day, Dave had got up an hour earlier than me for work. Before leaving he woke me up and asked if I could get off early as it was our anniversary. With it being so close to month end I told him I would try, but couldn’t make any promises. He left and I went back to bed.
Later on that morning, Dave had called to see how my day was going. He said he would be able to go home early and was hopeful I could do the same. I had a few more things that I needed to get done before I could leave. Couple of hours go by and I am getting increasingly frustrated at work. Dave sends me a text, again asking me the status of when I can leave. I couldn’t help but think “I am always waiting on him while he works late almost every day it is his turn to wait for me” So I finished some stuff off, and thought to myself, “just go home and maybe you can work on this over the weekend.” I unhook my computer, lug my backpack to my car and start to head home. While I am driving home, I couldn’t stop thinking about work and how frustrated I was. I pull into our driveway and walk up to the door. I unlock the front door to see a “Do Not Enter” sign and 1 Red Rose. All of the days frustrations fell away as butterflies started in my stomach. The sign told me I was not allowed to go upstairs. The red rose had a note attached. This note stated I was starting our Anniversary Scavenger hunt. Now the thing is, Scavenger Hunts have been our thing throughout our relationship. We have both created them throughout our house for each other over the years. Continuing on, each station had another red rose, and another clue. In total there were 5 clues, each clue representing a memory we have shared. 5 roses represented every year we have been together. Final clue stated that I would finally get to see him under our favorite and meaningful wall décor in our bedroom. Once I got up there, I noticed our Michael Bublé song playing in the background and my handsome man dressed in my favorite shirt and tie with a final rose. He starts to well up as he says that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and gets down on one knee to propose. Obviously, I said Yes!
After all the joy and shock settled in, the real truth started to come out. He never actually worked late most of those nights like he said he did. He was ring shopping, picking it up or driving out to my parents house to ask their permission to marry me. He also didn’t actually go to work the morning of our anniversary, he left the house before I had even got out of bed but little did I know, he was going for breakfast by himself at a local restaurant waiting for me to leave. After I arrived at work he went home to clean, buy flowers and start the preparation work that led to the best days of our lives.
Both of us were a little nervous about booking engagement photos as they are lasting memories of our relationship and how we got to this point. It didn’t take but a few minutes to realize Molly was the perfect photographer for us. Molly did a very good job of keeping things light and fun while maintaining professionalism and encouragement throughout the session. Needless to say we are extremely happy with how everything turned out and now we have fantastic pictures to look back on for the rest of our lives.
Congratulations on your engagement Dave & Britany!
