While some brides swear that they couldn’t have planned their wedding without a wedding planner, many others couldn’t imagine doing it with one. Is a wedding planner essential to planning the wedding of your dreams? Here are some simple tips that may help you decide.
Are you available to take calls and go to appointments within working hours?
If you are, then great. However, for lots this is a very difficult task while working your own job. If you just absolutely cannot make this work, then maybe a planner would be the way to go.
Do you have reliable friends and family who have volunteered to help you?
If you have an amazing group of girls that you know you can count on when you need them, then you may just have all the help you need.
Do you enjoy party planning?
If the thought of planning every detail makes you sick to your stomach or stressed out, then a wedding planner is for you. Planning a wedding is time consuming and can be stressful at times, take some of the stress away with a planner.
Are you detail oriented?
Are you very deadline or date driven? Or do you fly by the seat of your pants? If you are the latter, then I would highly suggest a wedding planner. By missing deadlines, you could be end up missing out on that specific vendor you wanted or costing yourselves extra money by missing due dates.
Do you have a tight budget or budget concerns?
If your budget is a little on the tighter side, then maybe a wedding planner isn’t for you. Maybe you’d rather spend a little extra on the amazing florals you’ve been dreaming of and be ok with taking on a little added stress of planning.
If you choose to hire a wedding planner here a couple quick tips that are very important:
- Know your budget and be specific with it.
- Make sure your wedding planner know those specific details you absolutely want included in your wedding.
- Ask lots of questions. Request to see photos of other events they have planned. See if they can provide you with references. Do your homework!
- Read the contract. So many people, myself included, just skim over them, and sign away not realizing what exactly they have committed themselves to. Please read it over and ask questions if you don’t understand.
