When to send Save the Dates
Sending Save the Dates is becoming very common practice is this wedding day and age. They allow you to send out a quick reminder to your guests telling them the date you wish to get married before sending out the formal invitation.
But when should I send the Save the Dates?
Approximately 6 months before the big day if you are having a local wedding and 8 months for destination weddings or long weekend weddings. This will allow your guests ample time to plan for a trip away, save money and book time off work.
Should we send them to everyone?
The people you want to attend, yes. Just be sure that you only send them to people you want to attend, because once they are in the mail it’s a done deal.
What information should we include on the Save the Date?
Generally, save the dates have a simple picture of the couple, with their names and the date they wish their guests to save. Some people do include ‘formal invitation to follow’.
Once your save the dates are sent, do not expect a formal reply. These will be received once you send the formal invitation.
